| Never thought we would spend this kind of money for a mixer/blender! But we did and love it!! Use it everyday for smoothies, salad dressings, frozen desserts etc etc. It is a workhorse and works as advertised. Saves a lot of time. We grate parmesan cheese and its perfect every time. Margaritas, fresh peanut butter..I could go on and on or maybe I have. Haha. Anyway, if in your budget, buy it. |
I love it

I have mainly used this for smoothies which it does an outstanding job. The only problem I have had is when making an icey type of drink, it wants to form an air pocket and the top portion doesn't want to mix in because it is thick with crushed ice. For this I would have to stop and start the machine and push the icey stuff down toward the blades. (only do this with the machine off) This is so great to make smoothies though and very healthy, there is no fruit waste (you do have to remove seeds and inedible peels like on oranges and bananas) everything else is pulverized into a healthy beverage so this is, in my opinion, healthier than a juicer since you are getting the juice and fiber of the fruits and vegetables.
I haven't made any soups, I prefer mine to be chunky so I have no real interest in the soup.
It is easy to clean as long as you clean it right after using it. It only takes a couple of minutes, use hot tap water a drop of dish soap and run it on high for a few seconds, pour out and rinse. The outside is stainless steel so there is no yellowing and no fading and it is very easy to wipe clean.
I have noticed at the bottom of the container it is getting a little cloudy, I assume this is from the ice hitting the sides with such force, but it is only the bottom 2".
This won't fit under a cabinet but I have a counter where there is no cabinet above it, I leave it sit out all the time since I am using it about every day.
If I had to do over I would still buy this, if it is within your budget I think you will be pleased with the performance. |
I would buy this AGAIN!

| I had a choice of Vitamix or Blendtek. I chose Vitamix, my friend and neighbor chose Blendtek. We have been able to compare. My Vitamix has the push stick that is ingenius! It is designed to push the food just to the blades and no further without removing the top. Blendtek does not have this feature and my friend has to constantly remove the top and push with a spoon, shutting down the machine or spray the kitchen with food if she does not. Her Blendtek is SO loud she can be heard using her machine 5 houses away! Then neighbors have asked her NOT to use her Blendtek until after 9:am in the morning as a courtesy! When she first recieved her machine, the police were called to check on her home thinking there was illegal construction going on. Too funny! My Vitamix does not have these problems and will grind anything you feed it. I have made hot fresh soup, 3 different sorbets, and countless smoothies, ground coffee beans, and cracker dough. I would buy this again, and my friend wishes she had purchased Vitamix as well. |
Love our new Vitamix Professional Series 500

| I purchased this for my husband's birthday and our anniversary. We really love this blender and Vitamix is truly the best you can buy. The noise level is the only thing I can complain about, but I guess you have to expect this when you have such a powerful machine. |
performance that justifies gigantic price tag

My first reaction to the Vitamix (VM) was: Why would ANYBODY pay that much for a blender? The answer is...NOBODY should pay this much for a blender. Not even me! But the VM will VASTLY outperform every cheaper blender on the market, as well as handle many food processing tasks.
For many people, a blender is mainly used to make smoothies or frozen drinks. If that's you, don't bother with the VM. It would be complete overkill. But if you take advantage of the many things this thing can do, then it may well be a great value for money.
Like my food processor, the VM can easily make nut butters, hummus, etc. But the VM cleans up much more easily, essentially becoming its own dishwasher. In minutes, you're ready to use it again.
But it can also do jobs that a food processor can't do. It makes the best strawberry sorbet I've ever had. It can make juices, and even soy milk. From scratch!
(Finally, the included recipe book is comprehensive and has yielded great results with little effort. A great bonus.) |
